What is a Digital Signature Certificate?
Digital Signature Certificates (DSC) are the digital equivalent (that is electronic format) of physical or paper certificates. It is a digital certification that can be presented electronically to prove one’s identity, to access information or services on the Internet or to sign certain documents digitally.
Why is DSC required?
Physical documents are signed manually, similarly, electronic documents, for example e-forms are required to be signed digitally using a Digital Signature Certificate.
Where to use DSC?
Filing ITR; GSTR; ROC Form; MCA, Applying for E-Tenders,; PF Return Filing, Signing Digital documents etc.
Who is required to have a DSC?
Any person can apply for a DSC. It facilitates in efficient filing of various applications and forms online. However, it is mandatory to have a DSC for E-filing ITR if tax audit is applicable; applying for DIN and registering a company on GST portal.
